Hypebeasts, get ready.Replica handbags and Supreme have made their collaboration official. This morning, the French luxury house unveiled its much anticipated collection with the skatewear brand at its men’s fall 2017 runway show in Paris. The collection features denim, sneakers, gloves, scarves, and a wide range of bags, including a backpack, messenger bag, and fanny pack in the brand’s signature materials like red and black Epi leather fabrics. It has even produced a red-and-white skateboard that comes with a matching trunk and tool kit. “We thought it was quite nice to do it properly,” creative director Kim Jones told WWD, in reference to the cease-and-desist letter the French brand sent to Supreme back in 2000 when the streetwear brand repurposed LV’s monogram print on its skateboards.
This collab has been circulating the Internet for weeks, ever since a mysterious photo of replica handbags sweater with a Supreme logo surfaced online. Last June, Supreme’s founder James Jebbia was spotted at the louis vuitton replica’s spring 2017 menswear show, which also fueled rumors of a collaboration. Jones is also a well known streetwear fan, who has worked with cult-favorite labels, including Nike and Hiroshi Fujiwara of Japanese streetwear label Fragment Design, in the past.
The new line will go on sale at select louis vuitton replica stores on July 17, and potentially, at a few pop-up locations. Until then, check out some of the sneak peek preview of the collection.
Those of us who were teens in the early 2000s might remember Louis Vuitton’s entrance into the streetwear scene. The luxury brand became the darling of everyone and everything related to the streetwear craze, thanks to its then-creative director Marc Jacobs. Celebs and fashion fans alike went gaga over artist and designer Stephen Sprouse’s graffiti bag collection for the label in 2001, while musicians like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West were commissioned to design capsule collections of their own in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
Now, the French brand is rumored to be in cahoots with none other than Supreme, the skater apparel brand that reigns supreme (pun intended) over streetwear fans everywhere. We have reached out to Louis Vuitton to confirm and will update this post accordingly.
While the dream collaboration is just a rumor for now, all signs point to “in stores soon.” A photo of a possible piece from the supposed collection was posted by Supreme fan account @MrBld this week. The pic shows a cozy white sweater with a Supreme emblem and Louis Vuitton’s classic logo woven all over the knit. The photo’s caption reads, “sweater got spotted by a model at a LV casting show.” The post also mentioned that there is a bag in the works by replica handbags’ menswear director Kim Jones.
After the leak, Jones posted (then deleted) an image of a Supreme sticker on top of the LV monogram, according to Racked. But it wasn’t deleted fast enough to stop the Supreme reddit sub-forum from obsessing over it, of course.
